MID-BUDGET ROAD PACKAGES
BEACH & SAFARI VALID 1ST APRIL - 30TH JUNE
NAIROBI – TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK – MOMBASA BEACH - NAIROBI
5 nights / 6 days
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Tsavo West National Park
You will be picked by an Exotic Expeditions representative from your hotel/airport, who will brief you before your drive to Tsavo west National Park. Arrive in time for lunch and go on a game drive later on in the afternoon. Return by 1700 hrs to see the special leopard feeding at the lodge where a leopard is baited with a piece of meat so as to come close enough for photos. Meals and overnight at NGULIA SAFARI LODGE (FB)
Day 2: Tsavo West National Park
Have an early morning game drive before breakfast. The park has widespread volcanic rocks, the scenic Chyulu hills, a rhino sanctuary and the Shetani lava flows and caves. ‘Shetani’ refers to the supernatural phenomenon, named as such because traditional villagers could not explain the strange smoke and flames rising from beneath the ground. It is said that a long flat stretch of volcanic rock was caused when a giant snake slithered over the hot lava. Meals and overnight at NGULIA SAFARI LODGE (FB)
Day 3: Tsavo West National Park – Mombasa
After breakfast drive to Mombasa, the coastal city formerly known as ‘Mvita- the island of war’. Spend the afternoon relaxing until evening when you’ll be picked at 5p.m. for a dhow cruise that takes you through Mombasa’s Old Town on to Fort Jesus for a Sound & Light show through history, when the local Swahili inhabitants fought with the Portuguese, Arabs and British for control of the Fort. Dinner is then served on the Fort’s verandah. Overnight at SEVERIN SEA LODGE (HB)
Day 4: Mombasa
After breakfast you shall be picked up from the hotel at 0730 hrs and depart for a half day tour of Mombasa Town, beginning with the Elephant Tusks on the Main Highway (which are a symbolic representation of the entrance into the heart of the town). The tusks were built to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth to the town in 1952. You will proceed to the Temples and Mosques, then cross to the Akamba wood carvings Industry in Changamwe to view a great variety of woodcarvings sold at a reasonable price. Proceed further to Mama Ngina drive to visit the Light House for a bird’s eye view of the Indian Ocean while sipping on cold madafu and cassava bites. A visit to the Kenyan coast is incomplete without a visit to Ngomongo Villages, a collection of 9 diverse rural Kenya Tribal Homesteads, each complete with huts, cultivated crops, domestic and wild animals (like crocodiles for the El Molo man) wild animal traps, charms and fetishes, tinsmiths and even a village witch doctor. After the trek through the village households, you get the “déjà vu” feeling that you have literally walked throughout rural Kenya in only one and a half hours. Spend the afternoon enjoying the hotel facilities. Meals and overnight at SEVERIN SEA LODGE (HB)
Day 5: Mombasa
Full day at the hotel enjoying the hotel facilities. Meals and overnight at SEVERIN SEA LODGE (HB)
Day 6: Mombasa - Nairobi
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi. Stopover for a snack/ lunch at Voi at your own cost. On arrival in Nairobi you will be dropped at your hotel or the airport for your flight home.
